Wild West is currently a Brooklyn-based concept shop founded by two friends, Daisy Hartmann and Elizabeth NeSmith. Originally founders of a lingerie and swimwear line, the two designers launched their debut collection in the spring of 2014, just a few years after the two received their BFA’s in Intimate Apparel Design from the Fashion Institute of Technology. The girls, both born and bred below the Mason-Dixon, constantly draw inspiration from their diverse backgrounds; Daisy being a first-generation American to immigrant parents and Elizabeth, a small town girl who can trace her lineage back for generations in the states. The girls' distinct upbringings help to influence and create a lifestyle brand infused with large doses of Americana, femininity and free-spirit.
With the success of their clothing company, Daisy and Elizabeth were inspired to open their own brick and mortar storefront, Wild West Brooklyn, in Williamsburg. After a year open, the duo decided to take the shop's inventory on the road and online. The expansion of their brand now goes beyond apparel design and retail curation, and into styling and production projects, in collaboration with other indie designers, photographers, models and musicians.
The Wild West aesthetic celebrates a woman who is strong-willed, independent and free-wheeling, she's a little bit country and a little bit rock 'n' roll; in essence she's the Modern Cowgirl.
